I'm gonna hear it for this one (a few gripes in this one)

Now let me start by saying that my heart went out to the families of the two women detained in North Korea. To have a loved one serving out a sentence so far away must have been unimaginable. With that said, some of you are probably going to hate me or delete me off your list, but oh well I'm getting on my soap box.

This reminds me of the big "flogging" incident in 1994. Michael Fay from St. Louis, MO was 18 when he was sentenced to six strokes of the ratan in Singapore for vandalism, mischief, and possession of stolen property. Now, flogging is a customary form of punishment in Singapore. This sentence sent most of America into a frenzy. How could the Singapore judiciary bestow such a sentence on an American? The adjective barbaric was used many times. I have a simple answer to that question. He broke the law in Singapore, therefore he needs to be punished according to their standards. End of story.

Now, we have a similar situation with two journalists, who illegally crossed into North Korea from China. They have already admitted that they knew they were breaking the law. Here is my issue. When someone breaks the law in America we have our way that we deal with them. If they're not citizens they get deported. That's how the AMERICAN legal system works. Not all countries follow in America's customs (no matter how much we try to shove it down their throats) North Korea's judiciary handed down a sentence that they felt appropriate for the crime. (12 years in a hard labor camp) That's how their legal system works.I don't know where the citizens of this country got the idea that we are above the laws of other countries, but give me a break. They screwed up. They got caught. Own up to it and suffer the consequences of your actions. I always tell people if for some reason I get arrested, my mother is the one person I'm not gonna call. You know why? Because as upset and scared as she would be for me, she would make my ass stay there. You were bad enough to break the law, be bad enough to pay for it.

My advice for people going to other countries, pay attention. Know what the laws are. You can be arrested in some countries for spitting in the gutter. And if you do break the law, whether you know it or not, suck it up and deal with it. Our ideas of fair and civilized are not shared by everyone.

This is not an anti-America blog or anything like that. It is my opinion on the egotistical and pretentious attitudes of some people in this country. Those people that think they the country they live in ranks them higher than anywhere else. Ok, done with that one.

Now, I wanna talk about the police in this country. If there are any police officers reading this, I need to know something. When in the situation of a suspect coming towards you wielding any type of weapon, be it a knife, bat (anything but a gun) are you trained to shoot to kill? And if not, is it necessary to fire off more than one shot. In the last few weeks there have been two such incidences in San Diego. One of which just happened a couple of days ago. Some officers seem to be getting trigger happy. A homeless man walks towards you with a knife do you really have to riddle his body with bullets? Ridiculous. I support our men and women in uniform. A friend of mine serves with the CVPD. I understand the daily gamble they take when they put on that uniform. But where is the line drawn between self defense and excessive force? On to my last point.

I know this is long and if you've read this far, I appreciate it immensely. Cash for Clunkers. Good idea in theory, but huge backfire. So, the program has run out of money way before the 7 months they had anticipated. Now there are talks of adding a 2 billion dollar extension to the program. Excuse my language, but where the fuck is this money coming from? I thought America was broke. And 4500 dollars for a car that would probably be blue booked at less than half that. We got some real brains on Capitol Hill. My three year old niece can handle money better than these overpaid paper pushers. I give her a dollar, what does she do? Walks straight over to her Princess Ariel bank and sticks it in the slot. Maybe I'll make a video of that and email it to Diane Feinstein.

Canada is looking really appealing right about now, lol. I can't get shit here.America is the land of opportunity. Yeah the opportunity to work your ass off (if you're one of the lucky ones that can find a job), pay double your paycheck in taxes, contract some horrible disease that I refuse to believe just developed out of nature (HIV, swine flu for example) and die because all your taxes go to pay the bloated salaries of the shitbrains that can't come up with a healthcare plan to keep you alive. Canada has free health insurance. How the hell do they do it? Do they give classes on how to run a country? Sign us up. Ok I'm done.

Like I said, some of you are probably gonna send me some hateful shit, but oh well. As an American, I have the right to my opinions. If more people had the balls to say what I'm saying (cuz I know somebody out there agrees with every word I've written here) maybe we might be able to make this place suitable for future generations.Goodnight everybody.

Love and God Bless.
